Progress on pc port improvements
hi all, good news
Ive been working on the pc port rebuild and have made an amazing breakthrough! Ive added a couple new and awesome features i think go along way. But first heres a little context. The genesis has this awesome feature ive wanted to play with where it can fade the screen palette in and out to better illustrate transitions. This is something i have been tinkering with and have executed it before in a genesis demo (i forgot the bin build, should be uploaded tho). After much research on it ive come to the conclusion the way i did this back in 2016 was out dated.
Back then i made a sprite that had like 10 frames that when the animation ended would switch to the next sceen.this is super awful for file sizes so i went and wrote my own funtion thats genesis compatable. I took the way i coded the genesis fading effect and just replicated similar effects on gamemaker!
Below is a video on what the game looks like now.
I also took the liberty of redesigning my old logo to match the current version here on itch. I think it looks stunning and way more professional. Plus i love the deep colors of the new console acurate palette, i should have done this years ago.
All in all this bit of progress is a testement of things to come as the old build is so un optimized and clunky. I cant wait to use my current skills and 20 years of game dev experience can do now, its gonna be a huge improvement. Ill also be uploading more of the older builds as well for historical purposes.
stay tuned for any updates...
